In martial arts the most ancient fighting style is Jiu-Jitsu. It is also known to be an art of self defense. The place of origin of martial arts is a bit controversial, first credited to India, later China, Japan, and Brazil. But in Brazil the style of Jiu-Jitsu seems to have become more superior to every other style, thereby making Brazil the center of world of Jiu-Jitsu. The Features of Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu means soft or gentle art and is trained traditionally using the Jiu Jitsu Gi. It was practiced in the early 20th century in Japan. The Samurais used to practice these moves along with the use of weapons. But as they wore an armor to protect themselves, they could not use the technique to their fullest extent. The art gained popularity in 1990 when it reached Brazil. Mitsuyo Maeda-a Japanese teacher who had taken training at West Point Military Academy in New York, brought some changes and taught it to a wrestler cum judo expert Carlos Garcia. He taught it to his brothers who in turn propagated the art by opening schools.
